RESIZING PICTURES

To start with picture sizing should always be done first. Open the picture you want to use with a photo editing program. I use Microsoft photo editor (it comes with windows). If you want to save your original picture, copy it to a temp directory first. With the picture open, click the image tag on the toolbar and click resize. Then click the arrow under the percentage on the right side and reduce the picture size. Reducing will keep the picture looking good, but increasing it will make it blurry. Then just close it and save it and it will be smaller. View the pictures at 100% to see the actual size it will appear on the screen when posted. If using for an avatar, the picture should be approximately 1” square.

Picture Posting

Before beginning, open your photos and crop and/or resize them so the forum page remains a normal size. Some pictures have been huge.

First, start by obtaining an account with a photo sharing web site. I use “photobucket” www.photobucket.com It is free to use up to a certain amount of storage space. Follow the instructions on the site to upload the pictures to their web site. After uploading the pictures, you will see the picture as a thumbnail with three boxes below it. these boxes contain links to the pictures to be used on other sites.

Now, to put the pictures on a forum, the easiest way that I have found so far is to copy and paste the link from the BOTTOM box to the forum reply box. It is easiest if you have your “photobucket” account open in one window and your forum open in a second window. This way you can toggle between the two.

Good Luck, Hope this helps!

Photobucket has made it even easier now too. To resize there are buttons you can click that say something like 'Forum size' 'Avatar Size' etc.
