Don't assume the tires fit just because they clear the fneders when the van is sitting still. I did some donuts in the fields at the farm! They slightly rub when I drive it through the ditch along the road with the wheels turned to the stops. They only hit the plastic flair thing at the rear of the fender. Looks like it'll be easy to modify for clearance. | | | Re: New to me Astro | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 34 newbie | OP newbie Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 34 | Today I attempted to change the rear doors from my old van to the new one. After taking the bumpers off and heating up the hinges to drive the pins out, the doors won't fit. The doors are the same but the hinges were welded in different locations. The top hinges on the new one stick out farther than the old one and the spacing is different by 3/8". If i take the bushings out, I can mount the doors, but the top of the door has a 3/4" gap and the body lines are too low. So that was a waste of time. I guess I'll knock the dents out and put in the pop outs from the other van. | | | Re: New to me Astro | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 34 newbie | OP newbie Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 34 | Since the doors from the other van wouldn't work, I just put the pop-out windows in the slider and back doors. My favorite shade of tint... Rustoleum!

The Astro is a bit smaller. Can't park them next to each other till I finish the brake conversion on the 69.
