The fan I have on a Flex-a-lite controller makes that same noise and it's been fine for about 10 years now. I notice it more after the engine shuts off. That fan will run for a few seconds, shut down and then sometimes restart (if it's a very warm day) before shutting down for good. I'll glad you got it resolved. Good to know, thanks, makes me feel better. | | | Re: Flex fan vs electric fan | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 3,473 Likes: 1 pooh-bah | pooh-bah Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 3,473 Likes: 1 | I don't like any fans but the muscle car five blade viscous fan with clutch or damper. I run a stock radiator two core, with dual a/c and park go in and eat with the engine running to keep our dog cool and engine heat is not an issue. I put on a flex-a-lite fan when I first put the crate motor in and had all kinds of problems with it running warmer than it should. I also tried a wider blade flex fan and no difference... I also run a 160 degree thermostat. Heat is fine when it is cold and temps are great on a hundred degree day. Been using the same setup with all my Mopars since the mid seventies. Tried and true.

Fans work perfectly as soon as I got the connectors to seat properly. Not sure why but the gave me a lot of trouble. Some die electric grease got them to slid together wll enough now but still won't "lock" into place. Biggest difference..It's quieter! Myuch quieter while driving. What I thought was road and wind noise was largely the mechanical fan. | | | Re: Flex fan vs electric fan | Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 1,536 veteran | veteran Joined: Sep 2013 Posts: 1,536 | | | | Re: Flex fan vs electric fan | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 | Biggest difference..It's quieter! Yea that's nice isn't it? All you hear now is the cylinders popping out the tailpipes.
Looks great too!! your motor is very visible.

Well up in the mountains recently at 12,000 ft our van started getting hot, even with my extra electric fan. I know part of it had to do with the lack of oxygen in the air and we were only going about 30mph. So it probably wasnt blowing enough air either at that speed.
Just suggestions if anyone has any, thanks in advance.
Take Care, Kevin

I only paid a litle over 100 bucks for the twin 11 inchers.... | | | Re: Flex fan vs electric fan | Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 veteran | veteran Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 1,578 Likes: 2 | If you still have your mechanical fan where is your electric fan? In front of the radiator? I totally disagree with anything being in front of a radiator. I would pull it off if it is in front and see what happens.
