I remember seeing the Dodge for sale a while back, I'm glad I'll get a chance to follow the build now. I had a '71 Charger and love the grill ('71 grill right? Because it has the emblum in the center which was different than '72). Well done! Look forward to seeing them in person. | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 addict | OP addict Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 | Well now I know its a 71! We were trying to figure that out too. The roof is now basically mocked up in the black bitch, its going very well. Using the dodge chop as my driver till the bitch is done. | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 2,964 Likes: 63 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 2,964 Likes: 63 | Rick Hooper also built the Outlaw, Rick was from New Philadelphia, OH. Rollie (BvrWally) may know some history of the van. The white Chevy looks like the one Weird Harold had, the last I heard a restaurant had bought it in the Pacific Northwest, possibly Oregon or Washington, and then again, its been so many years, I may have it confused with another van. I tried searching old threads in the forums between 2006 and 2009, I believe that's the time period Harold had the van and he had posted pics of it. | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 addict | OP addict Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 | Ok...... I think I worded this thread wrong. Yes, the white van with flames is the old black bitch. Yes, weird Harold had that van. I'm trying to find info out on the white chop with the charger grille. Its a 1976 long wheel base dodge. Story goes in the 70s it was green, called "phantoms castle" and built by hooper. Any info on that van would be awesome. | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 2,964 Likes: 63 veteran | veteran Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 2,964 Likes: 63 | I have a couple articles in magazines about vans Rick built, one was called SST I believe, I did a quick look today but couldn't locate the story. The SST looks similar to your Dodge in body mods. It was maroon in color. | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 addict | OP addict Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 | Hmm......any pictures? I found some green paint on the firewall that lead me to believe the story I got about the green van was more plausible | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 addict | OP addict Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 | | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 addict | OP addict Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 442 Likes: 1 | Finally....figured it out! | | | Re: 1976 Dodge Chop | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 6,256 Likes: 164 Master Metal Sculptor | Master Metal Sculptor Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 6,256 Likes: 164 | I remember this van.....VERY nice!
