Hey guys. I've got a few posts here but never did the formal intro.

My name's Jesse (not Larry long story I'll tell y'all around a campfire over jäger shots one day). I just bought a rusty running '74 Chevy Beauville from a friend for cheap. And in a moment of mania bought a customized '78 that's pretty rust free from what I can tell, it's super rad. Shag carpret floor ceiling and walls, sofa bed, swivel seats, overhead console, bay window and parellogram bubbles. I also have a 87 g30 box Van for a parts Van.

The plan is to swap the TBI into the 78 along with the th400 (700r4 later) and upgrade the interior and exterior some probably swap the front clip/ grille from the 74 over to the 78. Get the AC working and ride for a while.

I have big future plans for side pipes and wood paneling interior but for now I wanna keep it simple.

Any thanks for having me guys. Loving it here so far.

Welcome! The glory of the TBI system is how simple it is. Swapping into the older van will be a piece of cake if you use the entire harness, steering column, and gas tank out of the 87.

You can scan through my build thread if you want to see pics of the swap. Nothing terribly hard, just time consuming.... Good luck!

Why do I need to use the steering column? I don't want to. My 78 has tilt and the 87 does not.

You don't have to.... It just makes it easier because everything plugs right back up.

Oh, I'm not worried about that.

Isn't the chassis harness separate from the engine harness?
