I wonder why anyone would go to the trouble of dropping a tree on it? Too weird...

It looks to me like the tree hit right where the two rear cargo doors meet, collapsing the roof and springing the doors open. What a mess!

Thanks for going to the trouble of capturing and posting that awesome vintage picture Reed! I really like the contrasting colors they had between the body and the fender flares. It looks so dark and shiny; I wonder if the color was originally something like a dark candy cherry? I can't tell how much of the "now" picture color is surface rust...

To my eyes that faded powdery orange looks like faded badly oxidized red paint. I bet it is the original paint that might even partly come back with a good polishing.

Yeah, looks like that left rear corner took a hard hit from the tree. Bummer.

Do you have any interior pictures?

I'd be interested to follow this if the guys in California do mount some sort of rescue mission. Please post anything else you might hear!

At the very least I hope they rescue the bubble window/s and take more pictures.

The way the tree fell is strange to me; to get that cut off portion of the trunk up on top it almost had to have been right next to the van and rolled up over it, or been the top of a tree nearby. Plenty of force either way!

I wouldn't be too put off by the project of reworking a really big dent or the collapsed bows across the roof of a van, but short of transplanting an entire rear cabin, that rear door frame and the side cargo door slider track would be so far beyond me that I can only wish all the best to whoever is brave enough to take it on!

I only found that picture on Youtube. I have no other pictures of this van. I would love to see more of it in its current state, though.

Dang Reed...that before and after pair of photos is depressing as hell. But thanks for posting them. Good to see her in all of her past glory.

Hey buddy. It’s Nick. I was the owner of Wild Cherry...my best friend Darby and myself are both on here now. I was blown away when Darby sent me the recently doscovered slightly aged WC pic. Talk again soon! ✌🏻
