FB is faster, you get more bites to topics, but when you try to get technicamwoth a response people tend to skip over and miss the important parts, then continue to ask specifics that were already answered... | | | Re: Are we being ignored? | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 104 member | member Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 104 | Although I'm pretty new to the van scene, I don't do Fakebook, I don't tweet, and I don't snap chat or instagram either. I have no need to and from what I understand, it's pretty hard to access social media on a flip phone.
Have I become a dinosaur at age 55? I come here for the common van interest (sharing what I might be working on), and my laptop works just fine. I love Reader's Rides and have found great ideas for future improvements to my van as well. If I can manage to keep my van on the road, I want to go to some meets as well. Right now I'm up to my armpits in house stuff, so the van's on the back burner. I noticed the turn off ad block or else pop up also.

And from what I understand, on Facebook, you get that type of experience...that is, what's happening NOW, but not as indexed or searchable. I prefer forums. | | | Re: Are we being ignored? | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,750 Likes: 13 | Joined: Dec 2000 Posts: 3,750 Likes: 13 | I did address this at CofC.. I can only say/do so much to get people to get off facebook and post here.
I explained that only posting your event on facebook is no different than running around the same group of friends waving the same flyers in each other's faces over and over..
nobody from outside that circle is ever going to see that stuff.
if they want numbers to grow, they need to post outside of facebook where new people can find that info.

Now today he has posted the Econo West ford show on Instagram but not here. If we dont see the Instagram pic on the right we would never have known the show was on .... https://www.instagram.com/p/BQWyfnhDKrB/?taken-by=azbillo https://www.instagram.com/p/BQZeTEcjpWF/ Here is another I didnt see ... "The Cove #12" https://www.instagram.com/p/BQWjaOKj6C_/?taken-by=azbillo ALL of these used to be posted here but not any more... I found out about them & Ive been to all of these West Coast van runs cause they were posted here on Vanning.com. I dont do Fakebook,Instagram or Twitter, the only INstagram I see is on the right hand of the page, ad its only up for a few minutes Yes we are being ignored... I wonder how many other West Coast run havent been posted here. King City, Kern River & Desert Generator are just a couple here in Ca. How many Washington or Oregon did we miss cause they wernt posted here ? Yes we are being ignored !

I'm on FB and I really like the networking, the amount of people and info out there but like Ryan said if you ask a technical question people well spew bullshit at you, if you tell them you can't get something apart they say "get a bigger hammer", if you ask them how to do something they say "why do you want to do that - you should do this". If you want or need acurate answers to serious questions Vanning.com is where it's at!! I've gotten my best leads on vehicles, parts and sound advice here. I also believe this website was Instrumental in connecting vanners and helping corral the sport back in the late 90's early 00's to what it is today. Whenever I meet somebody on the street and want to connect them to the vanning hobby this is where I send them ....... Thanks Dave.

They like to chat about all there daily life which is what Facebook is all about. I understand that but the events etc. need to be loaded into a static nature as this site. We just need to make it as easy as possible to get the flyers and photos loaded. I love seeing the photos after events which somewhat makes you feel like you missed something great and you get to see people you know from around the country having fun.
